Church Newsletter - January 2008
A Church Newsletter in January – surely some mistake!
Not at all – this is a special one-off edition to let you know more about our Congregational Gatherings that will soon be taking place. These gatherings lie at the heart of our giving programme, Together We Make A Difference, which we have mentioned in our last two regular church newsletters.
The planning group has been working hard over the last few months and we are pleased to announce that three gatherings have been arranged for mid-February on different dates and times and at different venues. We hope that you will be able to attend one of them.
The dates and times are:
• Sunday 17th February at 1.30pm in the Forge Community Centre, Balloch
(lunch will be provided at 1.00pm)
• Tuesday 19th February at 7.00pm in the Parish Church
• Sunday 24th February at 2.30pm in Cumbernauld / St. Andrew's Primary Schools
These gatherings will be opportunities for all of us to hear about the wonderful work that is done because we give money to God for the work of his Church.
Good things that happen here in our parish, good things that happen throughout Scotland, good things that happen in other parts of the world – all because members of this congregation and other congregations of the Church of Scotland give money to enable the sharing of the gospel.
Our giving really does make a difference by enriching individual lives and the lives of communities.
At the Congregational Gatherings there will be plenty of time to ask questions and make comments. There will also be time to chat with others over a cup of tea or coffee.
Every member of the congregation will get an invitation – look out for your visitor bringing yours. Please make a special effort to come to one of our Congregational Gatherings and hear good news!
Finally, a wee word about the logo we have adopted for the programme:
It shows a church, topped by a cross. Inside the church is a series of cogs, all inter-linked and all containing people.
We, the members of the church – the people of God – are the cogs that make it work, each playing our part, and everyone of us linked in some way. Together we make a difference.
You'll see this logo on all the material we will use for the giving programme:
for example, on prayer cards and on your invitations.
We hope you like it!
