Church Magazine: Brownies (November 2011)

Brownies provides a “girl only space" for girls aged between 7 and 10 years old and the 41st Cumbernauld Brownies meet weekly in the Forge Centre. As well as the usual games and crafts, the Brownies have been busy this session with badge work. They are about to complete their Fire Safety badge, which has included a very interesting and successful visit to Cumbernauld Fire Station where the Fire Fighters could not have been kinder to us. We are also looking forward to a visit by the Guide Dogs charity as part of the Disability Awareness badge.

The Brownies took part in a “Zumbathon" at Abronhill Parish Church where the whole of the Cumbernauld Division (Rainbows, Brownies and Guides) Zumba'd until they dropped to raise money for Redburn School, Cumbernauld. Redburn caters for pupils who have a wide range of abilities and needs.

The new Brownies will make their Guiding Promise when we return after the October holiday and we will have a special evening to celebrate this. Our Brownie pack is currently full, and has a waiting list, so you can see how popular we are!
