Our session began on 3rd September 2009 with our AGM and then on 17th September we had a Communion service with Catriona which everyone enjoyed. Since then we have had three speakers: Saranya, from the Buddhist Society was very informative and actually managed to keep us quiet for 15 minutes' meditation – a first for our group! The second speaker was Rev. Stanley Cooke who provided a very entertaining evening and then, in November, we had an interesting talk and demonstration from The Red Cross. We also had a trip to The Pavilion Theatre in Glasgow and a hobby night in November. Our Christmas dinner on 3rd December at The Dutch Inn was enjoyed by everyone and we had an excellent meal. Looking ahead: we have a trip to the cinema on 4th February and a speaker from Mary’s Meals on 18th February. Thereafter we have Deirdre Lyon speaking about “Ministry Mishaps”, Margaret McDowall on “Music From The Shows”, James Rankin talking about his farming experiences, a trip to the ten-pin bowling, a quiz / hobby night and, of course, our end of session meal (venue to be arranged). Details of all our activities will be printed in the weekly church intimations sheets and on this website's What's On page. |
