Duncan & Irene Whyte report on their recent trip to South Africa... Whilst on holiday in South Africa with Sandra & Graham Duncan recently we were privileged to attend Mamelodi Presbyterian Church where we met with some of the recipients of the Mission Circle. One very grateful lady was Mrs. Npepe, pictured right, who was left to bring up her two young grandchildren since her son-in-law was jailed for murdering her daughter. Mrs. Npepe is in her eighties, living on a very meagre pension and would not have been able to feed, clothe or pay for school fees for the children without the help from the Mission Circle. In South Africa school fees must be paid for all children or they do not get an education. Our £1’s per month may not seem a lot to us but in South Africa it can go a long way to help provide support to the needy. Also in the picture is Rev. Wonke Buqa whom some may remember from 2003 when he visited Cumbernauld Old. If you want to learn more about our Mission Circle, or want to join, then please speak to us or Elizabeth Snedden any Sunday at church. As we said above, every £1 helps! |
