| Church Magazine: 350th Anniversary |
1659 - 350 - 2009
Next year sees the 350th Anniversary of the re-opening of Cumbernauld Old Parish Church in its present form.
A group of volunteers has come together to start planning ways to mark this anniversary.
Among the ideas being considered are a Festival of Flowers, a Family Fun Day / Night, an 'All Our Yesterdays' evening, and such like. We are very aware, however, that we need to involve as many people in our celebrations as we can, so if you have an idea for an event / celebration / memento please put it in the 'suggestions pocket' provided on the notice-board in the Church vestibule.
An anniversary such as this provides a wonderful opportunity to look back at the life of the church over the years and it would be great if we could put together a display at some point in the year to illustrate our history. If you have anything you think might be of use – e.g. old photographs (particularly of past ministers), programmes or other memorabilia – we would be most grateful if we could borrow them. We can assure you that we shall take great care of anything loaned and ensure its safe return.
Meanwhile, we will keep everyone updated with our plans in future editions of this magazine and on our website.
